About the method

The assay method with atomic absorption termination is used to increase the sensitivity and accuracy of the analysis when determining low gold and silver contents.

The method combines assay melting with subsequent spectral determination of precious metals. After assay melting, the resulting gold-silver kinglet is dissolved in aqua regia, and then the resulting solution is analyzed by an instrumental method.

As a final step, atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) or inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES) can be used. Modern devices allow you to determine small amounts of a substance in solutions.

The assay-atomic absorption method makes it possible to determine the gold content from 0.05 g/t. As a result, the method is widely used in modern analytical laboratories when working with materials with low concentrations of precious metals.
