About the method

The total carbon and sulfur content is determined by oxidative melting in the oxygen flow on a LECO SC-144DR gas analyzer.

The method is intended for rapid analysis of total carbon and sulfur in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, steels, alloys, ore raw materials, enrichment products and other inorganic materials. It is used in the metallurgical and machine-building industries, as well as in laboratory and research practice.

The principle of operation is based on burning a sample sample in a special ceramic crucible in an induction furnace. After combustion, the carbon and sulfur content is determined in the gaseous compounds co₂ and so₂ by infrared absorption.

Measurements are performed in accordance with approved methods. The device is controlled by a computer that can store up to 32,000 analysis results in its memory.
