About the method

Assay analysis is one of the main methods for determining the gold and silver content in solid materials: ores, placers, concentrates, processing tailings, matte and compact metal.

The method involves a combination of pyro-and hydrometallurgical operations that allow the quantitative isolation and concentration of precious metals. Due to this, assay analysis provides good reproducibility of results and is used for both rich and poor in gold content materials.

The key stage of assay analysis is melting. During the melting process, precious metals are concentrated in the metal alloy, after which further separation and weighing operations are performed. Special high-precision assay scales are used to determine the gold and silver content.

This method is especially important when analyzing samples for gold, as it allows you to work with fairly large samples of material — 50 g or more. This increases the representativeness of the analysis, especially when studying materials with an uneven distribution of the defined element.
